Prepping for the Audition

Learn the fundamentals to help you prepare your audition like a pro! Too many actors mistakenly wait until they book the job to do the “work”, only to be disappointed because they never book the job. In this class you will learn how to prepare your audition material as if you were about to walk onto a set. Learn to take risks and embrace mistakes.


Character Before the Character

In this class, you will take an in-depth look at the process of character creation and execution. Dive deep into the study of designing multilayered characters and translating your creation successfully to the stage or screen. Students should come to class prepared with a scene or monologue that they are ready to explore and take to new depths.


Are You Talking to Me?: Mastering the Monologue

SELF TAPE CLASS

This class focuses on character development and performing monologues. Students will build on their storytelling skills and deepen character development, as a means of delivering a truthful and powerful monologue. Students should tape themselves performing a monologue from a play, movie or television program, no more than 3 minutes in length, for us to review and work on in class. Be prepared to take notes.

Pop Musical Theater Performance Prep

2 hrs 30 min

LIVE PERFORMANCE CLASS

With the popularity and success of shows like Hamilton and Six, 90% of musical theatre auditions these days are pop auditions! Learn how to create a living character for that short 32 bars of a pop song. Learn how to choose a song in the “style of the show”. Sing an audition cut from a pop song of your choice, and get direct feedback. Workshop your piece and learn from watching others. Please prepare 32 bars or a short selection (verse and chorus). You may sing with an accompaniment track or a cappella. Performances will be followed by a Q&A.
